Several events are hosted during the school academic year to
provide the parents with an opportunity to learn about the school,
understand what and how their children are learning, and to interact
with school staff and other parents in a social environment.
All these events have been very well received by the parent
community. Some of the main events are briefly described
below.
Saturday Breakfast Social
As a fun way to kick off the school year, each year we have a
casual breakfast social for all of our students and their families.
It is a wonderful opportunity for our families to meet, start new
friendships, reconnect with old friends and enjoy some casual
conversation with the teachers and staff.
Fall Festival
This annual event is a
fun-filled tradition for our children and their families. And it is
our way of welcoming the fall season. The children enjoy various
games, activities, and crafts organized by our Parent Association.
Morning with Dad
What better way to show dads, granddads, or that special guest how
hard the child has been working than a morning just for the two of
them. Each child demonstrates three Montessori lessons to his/her
father in the classroom followed by a breakfast treat shared with
that special visitor.
"Love Around the World" Family Social
This is Crabapple Montessori School’s premiere event. It is a
celebration of life on each of the continents: Asia, Africa,
Australia, North America, South America and Europe. Each classroom
represents one of the continents, decorating the rooms with
artifacts and offering food from the various countries. The
festivities also include live music to entertain the children,
parents, family and friends.
Morning with Mom
Just like Morning with Dad, this is a special time to show mom,
grandmother or a special guest how much the child has learned.
Lessons are presented followed by breakfast together.
Parents Nights
Held approximately every six weeks, the teachers address different
areas of the Montessori curriculum as well as offer an opportunity
to the parents to ask questions specific to their child’s
classroom. Attendance is mandatory by at least one parent.
Graduation
This is when we recognize our oldest students who have completed the
three year cycle of the Primary program. As faculty, family and
friends look on; the students are presented with their diplomas. The
evening concludes with music and light refreshments.
Parent/Teacher Conference
Scheduled conferences are held twice a year, October and March.
Teachers meet with parents individually to discuss their child's
progress covering areas such as academic, social and emotional
development.
